Medium Date, Wide "76", Low "6” and Major "Die Break"
1876 H Newfoundland One Cent · Victoria
This variation is nearly identical to the previous example, however in this instance, the Gap between the "7" and "6" is noticeably Wider! Similarly, this variety also has a Low "6", and the Mint Mark "H" is located at nearly the same position as the aforementioned variance. Once again, the three "E's" found on the Reverse side Legend, are particularly interesting. All display obvious signs of Re-engraving to these Letters, but the two "E's", found in the word group "ONE CENT", are quite unusual making them useful indicators to the identity of this specific variety. Also, a Major "Die Break" can be found on many of the coins from this particular variation. It is located between the bottom Left Oak Leaves, and the Letters, "N", "E" and "W", in "NEWFOUNDLAND".
