Wide Date, Re-Engraved Reverse, (Narrow Shadows)
1940 Newfoundland One Cent · George VI
This third Re-engraved variety is very much like the preceding variation but with some subtle differences. In this instance, all of the numerals in the date display obvious signs of having been altered but they are not exactly the same as the aforementioned Re-engraved varieties. Here it can be seen that the shadows created by the exposed remnants of the original digits are Narrower than those of its previously mentioned companions! Finally, the Lettering on the Reverse side has been Re-engraved, very much like the other varieties listed in this section, however, the effects of these modifications are far less impressive.
