Coin #5 in Barry's study

Both this variety and the following sub-variety are the only two examples that have been found to have the "40" Punched slightly Higher in the date. In this instance, it can be seen that there is a markedly Wider Gap between the Ornamental Loop and the "0". Also, it is the first of several varieties which has Re-punched numerals in the last two digits. In this particular case, the "4" has been modified but the effects are very subtle.
