Narrow Date, High, Even "43" (Die Clash)
1943 Newfoundland 5 Cents · George VI
This is the first of the Narrow Angle "3" varieties, which can be recognized by the positioning of its "3", above and slightly ahead of the Decorative Loop. In addition, the "3" is located very close to the "4" making it noticeably different from its Wide Date companion which will be described later. Also, it should be noted that the "43" has been punched slightly Higher in the date than that of following variety. In addition, it should be noted that many of the examples of this variety, show definite signs of a "Die Clash" on the Reverse side. In this instance, the image of George VI can be seen as a very faint outline, facing to the Right side of the coin.
