Narrow Date, High "4", Low "3"
1943 Newfoundland 5 Cents · George VI
This particular variety illustrates the irregularities that are often found on some of the coins from these various groups. Upon initial examination, they seem to belong to a definite variety, however, after a closer inspection, they often revealed some different and unique characteristics! Simply put: "they just don't fit the mold!" The point here is that they are not quite the same as the other coins in a specific group but are similar enough to be included as a Sub-class. This variation illustrates this point with its subtle differences to the positioning of the last two digits in the date. In this case, the "4" has been punched slightly Higher than the "3", making the Date appear a little Uneven. In addition, this particular variation also displays Die Polishing Lines running across its Reverse surface.
