Re-Engraved Letters, "W", "F" & "N" (2nd) Missing Serifs, High, Repunched "76", Right "H"
1876 H Newfoundland 20 Cents · Victoria
In comparison to the aforementioned examples, this variety appears to be considerably scarcer and more difficult to locate in any condition! It also exhibits some minor traces of Re-engraving to many of its Obverse Letters, (in "NEWFOUNDLAND") but the results are far less spectacular than those of its companions! Never-the-less, it still might be considered more interesting because of its unusual and unique characteristics. The letters, "W", "F" and 2nd "N", are each missing one of their serifs, which are all present on the other Re-engraved varieties. Also, both the "7" and "6" have been Repunched and Positioned Higher in the date and the Mint Mark "H", has been Repositioned a littler farther to the Right (over the Letter "D"), than it has been with either of the other variations.
