Narrow Date, Low "73" (Wide "87"), Wire Border Distortions under "NEWFOUNDLAND"
1873 Newfoundland One Cent · Victoria
The second of these Narrow Date varieties is very similar to the previously mentioned example but there are some notable differences. In this instance, both the "7" and "3" have been punched Lower in the date and the Gap between the "8" and "7" is slightly Wider than that found on the first variety. Also, the Wire Border displays some unusual divergences at the bottom of the Reverse, directly under the Letter "O" and between the "D" & "L", in "NEWFOUNDLAND"!
