Coin #2 in Barry's study

This second variety also has been Over-punched with a "3", but in this situation its ends are Closed inward, more tightly towards the body of the numeral. This has resulted in a Narrower Gap leading into the inner sections of this "3", which has effectively eliminated most of the Remnants of the Original digit! Also, with this specific variety, the "T" (in the word "CENTS"), has been heavily Re-engraved, leaving two visible Appendages protruding from either side of the main stem of the "T", just above its base. They appear like two "Buttresses" supporting this numeral, which makes it the defining characteristic of this particular variety!
