Narrow Date, Repunched "4"
1943 Newfoundland 5 Cents · George VI
This third Narrow Date example, is perhaps one of the easiest to identify from this specific group of varieties. In this instance, it exhibits a Repunched "4", which is its most Dominant and Defining feature. It is also the second of two known Altered "3" variations, with the first these belonging to the previously listed group of Narrow Angle "3's". However, their individual characteristics are noticeably different from each other. Finally, obvious signs of Die Polishing can be seen on the Reverse side, by the presence of many raised, fine lines which are most prevalent at the bottom of these coins (particularly near the date).
