"Narrow Date", Re-punched “1”, “8” & “9”, Re-Engraved “S” and Re-punched Obverse “D” & “G” in “D: G:”
1894 Newfoundland 10 Cents · Victoria
Initially, there does not appear to be any significant differences between these two varieties, however, there are a few features which are worth noting. As previously stated, there is a slight difference in the spacing between the “4” and the ornamental beads, but the “1”, “8” & “9” of the date, and the Letters “D” & “G” in the Obverse Legend have all been modified! This would normally make the recognition of this variety easy, but never-the-less, it can be very difficult to observe on the more heavily worn coins.
