Repositioned, Right "H", Repunched "1"
1872 H Newfoundland 20 Cents · Victoria
Most of the coins for this date are found to have their respective Mint Marks ("H") evenly centered between the Letters "N" and "D" (in "NEWFOUNDLAND"). However, there is still another major variety and a Sub-variety, where this "H" has been Repositioned farther to the Right, over the Letter "D"! This difference is quite easy to recognize and is very helpful with the identification of this particular variation. Also, like the first of these varieties, the Numeral "7" has been punched slightly closer to the "2" and the "1" has been Repunched, leaving it with a couple of tiny "Buttresses" at its base! This particular variation is quite scarce and is considerably more difficult to find than either of the previous two varieties!
