Medium Date, Tilted "7", Even "6", Extensively Re-Engraved "E" & "F", Centre "H"
1876 H Newfoundland One Cent · Victoria
This sixth Medium Date variety is relatively new to these listings and is perhaps one of the more interesting examples to have appeared in quite some time. In this instance, the most important features which can be readily recognized, are the Re-engraved "E" & "F" which can be easily seen in the word, "NEWFOUNDLAND". The remnants from the Original Letter "F" are so prominent, that this characteristic can be readily used as a defining feature. Also to be considered, is the positioning of the Numbers in the Date, which in this case, are generally Even except for the "7", which appears to be Low and Tilted. This alignment is somewhat unusual considering that many of the variations for this Date have either a Low "76" or just a Low "6". The Mint Mark "H" for this variation has been punched more noticeably towards the Centre of the Gap between the "U" & "N". In this instance, only a Serif of the "H" covers a very small part above the Left Edge of the "N".
