Narrow Date, High "9", Low "0" & Re-Engraved Letters (e.g., "N's", "E's", "W" & "F")
1890 Newfoundland One Cent · Victoria
This variety, as well and the following example, are relatively new to these listings. It is due in part to the similarities that they share with the other varieties, and also, because of their apparent rarity! In this instance, the "0" has been positioned slightly farther to the right than that of the previous listing, but the degree here is barely minimal! This makes it difficult to distinguish from the first variation. However, once again the Reverse side Lettering can be used to focus on the identification of this variance. Here it can be seen the the Letters "N", "E", "W", "F" & "N", in "NEWFOUNDLAND", have all been noticeably Modified, and in combination, they define this particular variation. It should be noted that the Last Letter "N" does not offer any remarkable signs of the Original character, but the effect of this modification is still very important. Here it can be seen that the Left Leg of the "N" nearly touches the Wire Border. This feature is unique to this variance!
